Sohrab Ali Safarry was born in Wardak in 1945. He attended the Technology Institute in Kabul. From 1961 to 1965 he served on the Engineering faculty of Kabul University. In 1982, he earned a Doctorate in Engineering and Construction from Godseng Poly Technique in Poland.
