Minister Nasir Ahmad Durrani, Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development (MRRD), was hosted by Ambassador Mohib. Minister Durrani and his team of advisors are in United States for an official visit to discuss the status of their projects in Afghanistan. The achievements of the National Solidarity Programme (NSP) were a primary subject of discussion during the meeting. The NSP was founded by MRRD in 2003 to enable rural Afghan communities to identify, plan, manage and monitor their own development projects. Through the promotion of good local governance, the NSP works to empower these communities to make decisions regarding their own livelihoods. The success of NSP has gained a lot of traction in the international community with countries, such as Yemen, looking to implement similar development programs.

Ambassador Mohib met with Larry Sampler, USAID Assistant Administrator, and John Herbie Smith, incoming new Mission Director for USAID in Afghanistan to discuss USAID's program in Afghanistan. Topics reviewed included the New Development Partnership between the Afghan Government and USAID, National Priority Programs as well as outcomes of the recent Senior Officials Meeting and the RECCA Conference in Kabul.

Fourteen years ago today, terrorists took the lives of 2,977 innocent people in New York City, the Pentagon, and Pennsylvania. We mourn the loss of their lives, and send our prayers and thoughts to the families of the heroes who died that day.

Ambassador Mohib joined Deputy Secretary of State Antony Blinken, Ambassador Cui Tiankai of the People's Republic of China, and Deputy Special Representative Jarrett Blanc for a reception at the Department of State in honor of a delegation of Afghan diplomats visiting from Kabul. The Afghan diplomats are in Washington, DC to participate in a training program sponsored by the United States and People's Republic of China to help boost the new Afghan diplomatic corps.

Kabul, Afghanistan–A number of local pharmaceutical companies are at the forefront of increasing the domestic share of the lucrative pharmaceutical market in Afghanistan. In a market dominated by imported pharmaceutical products, emerging local enterprises are increasingly competitive in producing high quality health products accompanied by good customer service at affordable prices.

On Tuesday, September 8th, 2015, a group of Afghan business leaders visited the embassy to meet with the Commercial Attaché, Mr. Said Mubin Shah Musamam and Ambassador Mohib to discuss ways to invest and improve the Afghan carpet trade industry.

The Minister of Finance, Eklil Hakimi, spoke at a joint press conference with Nicholas Haysom, United Nations Secretary-General’s Special Representative and head of UNAMA about the Senior Official Meeting that took place in Kabul. The meeting was a continuation of the high level meetings held every year to follow up on the new phase of partnership initiated at the Tokyo Conference (July 2012), based on principles of mutuality and accountability, through the Tokyo Mutual Accountability Framework (TMAF).

A group of female medical professionals and a group of veterinary technicians visiting from Afghanistan for a training program sponsored by the United States and China both met with Ambassador Mohib today.

The joint training program for medical and veterinary professionals from Afghanistan is a partnership between the United States and China. The participants of both exchange groups have come to the U.S. for a training/exchange trip and then they will go to China for a similar training/exchange program.

Appointed Ambassador Mohib met with His Excellency Ambassador Orazov of Turkmenistan today.

Since his recent appointment, Ambassador Mohib has begun meeting with his counterparts from various nations stationed in Washington, D.C. Ambassador Mohib was particularly keen to meet with Ambassador Orazov because Turkmenistan and Afghanistan are neighboring countries that share common interests such as the TAPI pipeline, electrification projects, and other opportunities for regional integration.
