Presidential Palace, Kabul - H.E. Hamid
Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, is
disturbed by the news of the series of bomb blasts which occurred
in London, UK today, killing at least 2 people and wounding
dozens.
In his reaction to the news the President said,
“This terrorist act is shocking and despicable. It is
aimed at killing innocent civilians, and I condemn it in the
strongest terms.”
“The Afghan people send their sympathies
to the people of Britain. Afghans have suffered at the hand
of terrorists for many years and understand the pain and suffering
that terrorism causes. My thoughts are with the families of
the victims and those injured.”
This incident reminds us that terrorism continues
to pose threat to the peace and prosperity of all nations in
the world. It is imperative on the international community,
to step up the struggle against this menace until it is decisively
defeated from the face of the earth. Afghanistan stands in firm
solidarity with those countries that are affected by and are
fighting terrorism. We will play our full part in this fight.
