President Karzai Congratulates Prime Minister

Kabul - H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic
Republic of Afghanistan, congratulates Prime Minister Tony Blair
on New Labour Party’s historic victory in the United Kingdom’s
general elections yesterday.
In his reaction to the news earlier today, the
President said: "On behalf of the people of Afghanistan,
I extend my warmest congratulations to you on the New Labour
Party’s victory in your country’s general elections.
This historic victory, which will pave the way for a third term
Labour Party government, demonstrates the trust that the people
of the United Kingdom have in your vision and leadership.”
The President is confident that the partnership
between the United Kingdom and Afghanistan, which has an invaluable
asset to Afghanistan’s stabilisation and recovery over
the three and half years, will be further strengthened. Prime
Minister Blair’s commitment, and his leadership in mobilising
international community’s assistance to Afghanistan, have
contributed significantly to the progress that Afghanistan has
achieved. Taking this opportunity, the President thanks Prime
Minister Blair for the dependable support that the United Kingdom,
under his leadership, has provided to Afghanistan.
