President Karzai Leaves for Iran

Arg, Kabul - H.E. Hamid Karzai, President
of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, left for Iran on a two-day
state visit this morning.
During this visit, the President will meet with
Ayatollah Seyyed Muhammad Ali Khamenei, Supreme Leader of the
Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Mahmoud Ahmadinezad, President
of the Islamic Republic of Iran, H.E. Dr. Hadad Adel, Director
of the Parliament and H.E. Manochehr Mottaki, Minister of Foreign
Affairs to discuss bilateral relations, regional and international
issues and other issues of mutual interest.
The Governments of Afghanistan and Iran will sign
agreements on the extradition of criminals, the transfer of
convicts, the encouragement of investments, the construction
of a railway line between Khaf in Iran and Herat in Afghanistan,
the strengthening of cultural and judicial cooperation between
Afghanistan and Iran, the protection of plants and the exchange
of quarantine technologies.
The President will address Iran’s Center
for Strategic and Middle East Studies and the Chamber of Commerce
on trade and investment opportunities in Afghanistan, the expansion
of regional trade ties, Afghanistan’s relations with its
neighbors and our neighbors’ role as a gateway to South
and Central Asia and the Middle East.
The President is accompanied on this trip
