Ambassador Hakimi and Ms. Qasimi welcomed six female judges to discuss the growing role of women in Afghanistan’s judiciary. The Ambassador thanked them for their leadership in strengthening the rule of law in Afghanistan and building Afghanistan’s future.

The judges are in town for the Judicial Education Program for Afghan Women Judges hosted by the International Association of Women Judges and the Rural Women’s Leadership Institute of Vermont. The program, started in 2004, brings members of the Afghan judiciary to the United States for cultural exchange. While in town, the judges will meet members of the US judiciary and learn about the inner workings of the American legal system.
