British Prime Minister: Britain Fully Supports a Stable, Peaceful and Prosperous Afghanistan

President Karzai meets with British Prime Minister Cameron in London, England.

President Hamid Karzai met yesterday evening (local time) with David Cameron, the British Prime Minister at Ten Downing Street in London.

At the bilateral meeting, the leaders of the two countries discussed bilateral relations, ways to enhance dealings between Afghanistan and Britain, and British role beyond 2014 in Afghanistan.

The two sides also stressed on the importance of continuing trilateral meetings between Afghanistan, Pakistan and Britain.

Prime Minister Cameron said, Britain fully supports a stable, peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan and I believe a stable Afghanistan is not only in the interest of Afghanistan but it is also in the interest of Britain.

He noted that after withdrawal of the British troops from Afghanistan, Britain would remain committed to pursuing its aid programs to Afghanistan and supporting Afghan security forces.

President Karzai then thanked British Prime Minister for his initiative and efforts in organizing the trilateral summits as well as for the British assistance and support to his country within more than the past ten years.
