President Karzai: Taliban Leaders and their Commanders Will Be Held Accountable before Afghan Muslim Nation

Arg. Kabul- President Hamid Karzai has condemned in the strongest terms the suicide attack in Kandahar and the bombings in the provinces of Helmand and Baghlan in which many innocent people were killed and injured.

The President strongly condemned these acts of terror as mass killings carried out by the Taliban on order by their masters at a time when the security transition from foreign to Afghan forces are successfully underway to provide the ground for foreign troops to leave Afghanistan.

President Karzai said the Taliban have recently become so desperate and incapable that they can’t do anything but resort to targeting civilians and especially innocent workers, engineers, women and children. This once again proves that they have nothing to offer but killing and destruction.

The President said, “Taliban leaders and their commanders have to understand that by committing such acts, they can earn nothing but public hatred and God’s punishment. They will be held into account for their crimes before the Muslim nation of Afghanistan. Those including the Taliban who are not involved in such acts should stand up and speak out if they are not behind these crimes.

In today’s suicide bombing close to Shahidan Chawk in Kandahar, six innocent people were killed and close to 20 others were injured.

Also, last evening 12 innocent people including a woman were killed when their passenger car hit a road side bomb placed by the Taliban in Sangin district of Helmand province, and in a separate bombing in Doshi district of Baghlan province, 5 boys while graving animals were killed and 3 others were wounded.
