Since 2002, the Afghanistan Ministry of Public Health has made significant progress in key health indicators: accessibility to basic health services and quality of health services are improving, and the mortality rates of infants, children, and women are declining. Despite this success, however, much work remains.

Join us for a conversation with Afghanistan Minister of Public Health, H.E. Dr. Suraya Dalil, on the enormous progress the Ministry has achieved and the challenges of maintaining and securing health gains in Afghanistan post-transition and election.

Eileen O’Connor, award-winning journalist and Senior Director of Communications and Public Diplomacy at the U.S. Department of State, will moderate the discussion. Dr. Walter Andersen, Administrative Director of the South Asia Studies Program at SAIS, will provide introductory remarks.

A reception will follow the conversation.
