Embassy of Afghanistan

04/07/2004

Washington, D.C. - Said Tayeb Jawad, Ambassador of Afghanistan to the United States, joins His Excellency President Hamid Karzai in expressing his profound sadness over the loss of 16 Coalition forces and US government contractors in a helicopter crash due to bad weather conditions yesterday near the city of Ghazni, Afghanistan.

Ambassador Jawad sadly reacted: “We are deeply shocked by this unfortunate news, and the people of Afghanistan mournfully condole with the families who lost their loved ones in this very tragic incident. The victims were true heroes, who together with other dedicated Americans, made Afghanistan and the world a safer place. I salute their courage and heroism, and unforgettably appreciate their sacrifice for expanding freedom and democracy in Afghanistan and the world over.”
