President Karzai: Taliban Given Task to Tarnish the Image of Islam

President Hamid Karzai has strongly condemned the terrorist attack that killed Maulavi Noor ul Haq, a prominent religious scholar and his two sons in the province of Ghazni.

The President said, “The Taliban have been assigned by their foreign masters to defame and tarnish the image of Islam. They are directed to target mosques and religious ceremonies and to kill religious scholars.”

The President said Taliban would definitely be held into account both before the Muslim people of Afghanistan and before the Almighty in the hereafter.

President Karzai expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and relatives of late Maulavi Noor ul Haq.

Based on information by the provincial governor’s office, Taliban attacked the 85-year old Maulavi’s house on Tuesday night and killed him and his two sons.
