Embassy Minister Mr. Ahmad Zahir Faqiri welcomed a group of Higher Education Faculty, Staff and Administration from various Afghan Institutions.

Among the institutions represented were Herat University and Technical Institute, Nangarhar University, Kunduz University, Balkh University, Said Jamaluddin Afghan University, Turquoise Mountain Institute for Afghan Art and Architecture, Aria Institute of Higher Education, Samangan Institute of Higher Education, and the Afghan Government.

The group is visiting DC this month through a State Department sponsored International Visitor Leadership Program arranged by Meridian International Center.

During the meeting, the group members each discussed their educational institution’s achievements, including enrollment numbers. Mr. Faqiri thanked the group members for their hard work in the field of higher education and stressed the importance of increasing job opportunities for young Afghans as a necessary path to progress in Afghanistan.
