First Lady of Afghanistan Meets with US Congresswomen

Chargé d'affaires Mirwais Samadi welcomed the First Lady of Afghanistan to the embassy on Thursday evening.
The First Lady was greeted by six US Congresswomen: Susan Davis, Jaime Herrera Beutler, Cheri Bustos, Martha Roby, Niki Tsongas, and Sheila Jackson-Lee. The congresswomen and the First Lady discussed women's empowerment in Afghanistan. The Congresswomen pledged their continuing support for Afghan women as they continue to regain their role in Afghan society.
The First Lady also discussed her interests in helping all sectors of Afghan society gain useful vocational skills to boost the Afghan economy.
