Dear President Obama,

As the United States marks the 234th anniversary of its Independence, it is my great pleasure to extend the sincere congratulations and best wishes of the people of Afghanistan to you and the people of the Untied States of America. We wish the American people further well-being, peace and prosperity.
I very much appreciated the extremely productive discussions we had during my visit in May 2010 to Washington. Our meetings with you and members of your administration raised to a new level the spirit of partnership between our two countries. Once again, I affirm my commitment to working with you to strengthen friendly and mutually beneficial relations between our peoples.
As the citizens of the United States of America celebrate their Independence Day, our thoughts and prayers go out particularly to your servicemen and women who stand shoulder to shoulder with our security forces against global terrorism.
Please accept, Mr. President, my very best wishes for your continued success in your efforts to ensure well-being and prosperity for the American people.
Yours sincerely,
Hamid Karzai
His Excellency Barack Obama
President of the United States of America
