Incoming Afghan Ambassador to the UN Presents Credentials
Dr. Zahir Tanin presented his credentials to United Nations Secretary General Kofi Annan on December 19, officially establishing him as the new Ambassador and Permanent Representative of Afghanistan to the UN. Dr. Tanin who has extensive knowledge of Afghanistan and international affairs, and was the former head of the Afghanistan section of the BBC world Service. Dr. Tanin is also a distinguished author, and has written a number of articles and books on Afghanistan in Dari and English.
Dr. Tanin will replace Dr. A.G. Ravan Farhadi, who has served Afghanistan in a number of capacities since 1958.
