Rebuild Afghanistan Summit 2007 Announced for December 15
The fourth annual Rebuild Afghanistan Summit will be held on December 15 at Centerville Church i
n Freemony, CA. The annual event brings together Bay Area non-profit organizations that are working to assist Afghanistan’s rebuilding effort. The conference’s keynote Speaker will be the President of Cal State University East Bay Dr. Mohammad Qayoumi. He will be joined by Mr. Atiqullah Atifmal of Afghanistan's Los Angeles consulate.
The San Francisco Bay Area is home to one of the largest Afghan Diaspora communities. Since 2004 a large number of regional non-profit organizations who work in Afghanistan have come together to present their work to the community. The purpose of these forums has been to raise public awareness and garner support. The forum will include presentations on projects to empower women, plant trees, build schools, assist with medical care, implement satellite teaching programs, donate wheelchairs, institute micro-lending programs and upgrade the country's infrastructure.
