On November 8th The Embassy of Afghanistan was proud to host a reception for Language ETC. The event was a great way for the Embassy’s neighbors to come see the house and learn about the Afghan people and culture. Since 1993 The Language, Education, and Technology Center (Language ETC), a community-based program, has offered English and literacy training to low-income adult immigrants in the greater Washington area using volunteer teachers and tutors. Their vision is that all immigrants gain the education and support they need to build a better future for themselves and for their children. Language ETC’s mission is to empower and enable adult immigrants through education to become contributing and self-reliant community members. By providing high-quality educational services, access to technology, and life skill programs to all low-income adult immigrants in the Washington metropolitan area, Language ETC was selected as a featured charity in the 2005 Catalogue for Philanthropy.
