President Karzai Strongly Condemns the Terrorist Attack in Pakistan
President Hamid Karzai strongly condemned the November 8 terrorist attack on an army training base in Pakistan. According to reports, a suicide attacker detonated a bomb at a Pakistan army training base in Dargai, 100 kilometers north of Peshawar, on Wednesday, killing at least 42 soldiers and wounding 20.
In his reaction to the news the President said, “Terrorism is the root cause of instability in the region which hampers the progress and development of the peoples of Pakistan and Afghanistan and disrupts their peaceful life. Terrorism poses a serious threat to the life and interests of the peoples of both countries. Afghans have also suffered at the hands of terrorists in the past years and understand the pains and sufferings of the people of Pakistan.”
The President expressed solidarity with Pakistan in the global war on terror. “Terrorists want to disrupt the peace and stability in Pakistan, therefore Afghanistan and Pakistan must unite against terrorism and extremism and destroy their root causes,” he said.
The President, on behalf of the people of Afghanistan, expressed his deep sympathies and condolences to the families of the victims and to the people of Pakistan, and prayed for the full and speedy recovery of the injured.
