Ambassador Jawad Promotes Afghanistan During Trip to New York

Ambassador Said T. Jawad traveled to New York on October 31 accompanied by Rachel Pearson of Pearson & Associates, LLP as part of an Embassy initiative to seek new means of promoting investment opportunities in Afghanistan and Afghan cultural events. The famous auction house Sotheby’s hosted Ambassador Jawad for a discussion on Afghanistan’s cultural heritage. Vice President and Director of Protocol Peggy Race and other Sotheby’s officials suggested ways in which Afghan art and artifacts might help teach Americans about Afghanistan’s rich culture and history. The Ambassador also discussed investment opportunities in agribusiness, mining, natural gas and construction with officials from Firefly3, and the Business Council for Peace, Taconic Capital Advisors LP and Rosemont Capital, LLC. The trip also included a meeting with Paul Speltz of Kissinger Associates, Inc. to discuss security and political concerns in Afghanistan.
