President Karzai Congratulates Ban Ki-moon
Arg, Kabul – H.E. Hamid Karzai, President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, through an official letter congratulated H.E. Ban Ki-moon on his appointment by the General Assembly as the eighth Secretary-General of the United Nations.
In his letter the President has said “I am confident that the United Nations would build upon its past achievements and become an even more effective body under your competent leadership.”
“Many daunting global challenges such as terrorism, narcotics and poverty remain before the United Nations. I am convinced that as an outstanding diplomat with vast experience in international relations, you would be successful in leading the United Nations’ efforts in meeting those challenges.”
