Pennsylvania World Trade Center Showcases Afghanistan at Annual Event

On April 29, 2008 the World Trade Center of Central Pennsylvania hosted a forum entitled “Reaching Your Global Customers” at the Radisson Penn Harrisburg where companies from across Pennsylvania were invited to meet representatives of twenty embassies from across the globe in an effort to introduce and connect local businesses to international markets. Afghanistan was represented by Murtaza Bahrami, Trade & Investment Officer of the Embassy of Afghanistan, to whom companies were able to ask questions and pick up pamphlets and other published materials informing them of the latest news on the business climate in the country.

The one-day event brought together over 100 attendees and included prominent speakers from the Pennsylvania business community including Rick Andrews, Vice President of International Marketing and Innovation at the Hershey Company, and Mike Moran, former Manager of IBM.com Web Experience and a senior distinguished engineer who led IBM’s customer website development.

There are over 3700 manufacturing facilities located in south-central Pennsylvania, serving as a key region to promote potential global trade opportunities.
