Photographer exposes the Bay Area to “The Other Afghanistan”
“The Other Afghanistan,” an exhibit of photographs by award winning photographer Gloriann Liu will be on display in San Francisco from April 4 to June 30. A graduate of Wichita State, Liu has been a photographer and photography instructor for over 20 years. Her recent work has been focused on raising global awareness of social issues like women’s rights, the rights of children, and poverty. Liu has been a featured artist in Fotoritim Magazine and is a recipient of Black and White Magazine’s Annual Photo Contest Gold Medal.
Khaled Hosseini, the author of the Kite Runner comments about the exhibit, “Gloriann Liu’s lens gloriously brings Afghanistan and its people to life. In this breathtaking exhibit, she captures the raw, ethereal beauty of this war-scarred land and the unique spirit of its proud and resilient people.”
The exhibit is on display in the World Affairs Council’s Second Floor Gallery, 312 Sutter Street, San Francisco.
