New Reconstruction Projects will Help over 6,000 Afghan Families

The Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development recently completed 15 uplift projects in the provinces of Herat and Nooristan. These projects include the building of roads and bridges, power cable repairing and work on a water supply network.

According to a spokesperson for the Ministry these projects benefit over six thousand families and provide “major facilities needed in commutation for social centers, transportation of crop to markets, enlightening rural houses, prevention of private properties and agricultural land destruction, irrigation of lands and gardens and provision of clear drinking waters for rural communities.”

While funded by the Ministry, the implementation of these projects was carried out by the National Solidarity Program and the National Area Based Development Program in collaboration with Community Development Councils. At the same time, the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development also inaugurated the construction of a school in the Islam-e Ulia village of the Shortepa district in Balkh province, which will house 800 students. These projects will bring the Ministry of Rural Rehabilitation and Development one step closer to their goal of bringing development to the most remote villages of all 34 provinces in Afghanistan.
