New Tender Opportunities for Afghan Minerals Announced

The Afghan Ministry of Mines has recently officially released news of upcoming tender opportunities of various Afghan mineral deposits. Exploration rights are now available for the Khost Chromite Deposits (Khost Province); the Zarkashan Gold Deposit (Ghanzi province); and the Sary Sang Lapis Lazuli Deposit (Badakhashan province). The term of mineral rights is 10 years for Sary Sang and Zarkashan, and three years for Khost province.

The opportunity is open to both Afghan and international entrepreneurs and companies alike. Those interested should provide a sealed proposal to the Ministry of Mines Secretariat in Kabul by March 25th 2007. Possible investors should also appear for participation at the bidding on March 28th 2007 in Kabul. Further, a bid bond is required in cash, worth USD$ 50,000 or the equivalent in Afghanis. These conditions are not final, and could be changed.
