The Cabinet
The present cabinet of Afghanistan consists of 25 ministers
and one senior minister who were appointed by President Karzai
in March, 2006, and introduced to the House of People (Wolesi
Jirga) on April 3rd, 2006. After obtaining approval from the
Wolesi Jirga, through separate voting, the ministers were sworn
in by President Karzai on May 2, 2006.
The previous cabinet members were appointed by President Karzai
upon formation of the transitional government in 2002. The transitional
cabinet was dissolved after the parliamentary election on September
18, 2006.
