Chairman of the High Peace Council meets with top U.S. officials while in Washington, D.C.

WASHINGTON – The Chairman of the High Peace Council of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan H.E. Salahuddin Rabbani convened several meetings with top U.S. officials in Washington, D.C. on November 28 and 29.

Chairman Rabbani met with U.S. Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton where they discussed the progress of the peace process and the High Peace Council’s plans for reconciliation and reintegration with insurgents. Those messages were then echoed in discussions with Deputy Secretary of State Thomas Nides, as well as how the United States can continue to support the Afghan-led peace process.

In addition to his meetings at the State Department, Chairman Rabbani also met with high-level American officials in the administration and on Capitol Hill during his short visit.
