Ambassador Hakimi Briefs Asia Society Luncheon

Washington, D.C. (May 31, 2012)—Ambassador Hakimi briefed Asia Society luncheon participants about the significance and implications of the Strategic Partnership Agreement (SPA), the outcomes of the NATO Summit in Chicago, and the upcoming conferences in Kabul and Tokyo on Thursday, May 31.

The Ambassador highlighted important commitments that have come out of the SPA and the NATO Summit which chart the course of Afghan relations with the international community beyond 2014. He also discussed the importance of the upcoming Kabul Conference in June with its focus on regional cooperation and confidence building measures and concluded with explaining the focus of the Tokyo Conference in July and the Economic Action Plan that will be presented by the Afghan Government for a secure and prosperous Afghanistan.

The event ended with a question and answer session where the Ambassador discussed reconciliation efforts, regional cooperation projects and the Transformation Decade to come.
