Foreign Minister Spanta Travels to Egypt to Strengthen Bi-lateral Relations

On his first official visit to Egypt, Afghan Foreign Minister Dr. Rangeen Dadfar Spanta met his Egyptian counterpart Mr. Ahmad Aboul Gheit. The two exchanged views on Afghanistan’s ongoing reconstruction. Referring to Afghanistan’s determination to deepen its relations with Islamic and Arab nations, Dr. Spanta invited Egypt to increase its role in Afghanistan’s rebuilding effort. Foreign Minister Gheit stated that Egypt would enhance its efforts in diplomatic, judicial and police training, as well as providing scholarships to Afghan students.

Dr. Spanta also met with Secretary General of the Arab League Mr. Amr Musa and Egyptian Minister of Higher Education Dr. Halal. The Egyptian officials assured Dr. Spanta of Egypt’s continuing support for Afghanistan and the global war on terrorism.

Dr Spanta also met number of Afghan students who are studying in Egypt.
