“Kite Runner” Filming in China

Khaled Hosseini’s award winning novel “The Kite Runner” has been adapted for film and is currently being shot in western China.

Mr. Hosseini is working closely with director Marc Forster to recreate life in Kabul throughout the last three decades, from the hopeful days before the Soviet invasion to the destruction of ensuing war.

Actors will speak in Dari through much of the film, which stars Afghan, Iranian, British and Middle Eastern actors. Stars in the making Kekiria Ebrahimi and Ahmad Khan Mahmiidzada were discovered in different schools in Kabul; the amateur actors will play the young versions of Amir and Hassan, respectively. The film is scheduled for release by DreamWorks and Paramount Vantage in November 2007.
